Laboratory “Intelligent Automation” (Training Center for Industrial Automation)

Directions in which the activities of the laboratory.

Training direction.

The laboratory was created in 2016 as part of the implementation of the Tempus project 544010-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPHES “Trainings in Automation Technologies for Ukraine TATU” “Trainings on automation technologies for Ukraine”.

Currently, the laboratory is designed to conduct laboratory practical exercises, practical exercises, independent work in the following disciplines: “Fundamentals of programming controllers”, “Intellectual REA and systems”, “Electronic equipment of an intelligent building”, “Electronic equipment of intellectual equipment”, “Industrial controllers”, as well as for the performance of graduation projects, master’s works and research work of students.

Research activities of the laboratory:

– carrying out laboratory, practical and independent work of students on industrial controllers and HMI;

– carrying out optional PLC programming with the involvement of employees of leading IT companies (SAS Automation, ELAKS)

– preparing students for participation in international and all-Ukrainian programming contests for PLC programming;

– constant participation in competitions XploRe New Automation Award from the German company Phoenix Contact Gmb & Co. KG;

– carrying out research works on industrial IoT (IIoT)

– carrying out Appa round tables (Association of Industrial Automation Ukraine)

– conducting research work on Profinet networks.

Basic hardware and software:

  • 12 sets of TATU Smart Lab (TSL) -mobile set of devices, flexibly configured for learning modern automation technologies. Contains equipment from various manufacturers and was developed within the framework of the concept Industry 4.0 (the fourth stage of the industrial revolution):
  • “Programmable Controllers and PROFINET” hardware module because it contains two programmable controllers (AXC 3050 and ILC151GSM / GPRS), PROFINET I / O devices, a managed network switch, and a wireless access point for organizing a wireless local area network.
  • Profibus hardware module contains three Profibus I / O devices, Profinet Proxy for I / O for Profibus DP technology with an integrated switch and a wireless access point
  • The hardware module “CODESYS” is intended for modeling technological processes. Models must be developed in CODESYS versions 3.x and loaded into the EtherCAT EC2250 controller

The main achievements over the past 5 years:

a) grants, works commissioned by foreign representatives.

2013-2017 Implemented project 544010-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPHES “Trainings in Automation Technologies for Ukraine TATU” “Trainings on automation technologies for Ukraine”, received equipment for 40 000 euro and teachers passed training in European partner universities
Participation in the work of the international educational network EduNet. Lecturers of the Department of PEEA were trained in industrial technologies in the city. Bad Pyrmont Germany (2017-2018 and 2010, 2012)

b) state budget and contract work;

1. Planned contractual work on testing Profinet networks with SAS Automation

c) copyright certificates, patents;

Patent for utility model “Method of collecting information in a wireless sensor network” No. 100463 of 2015/7/27

d) other initiative works (monographs, etc.)

Is in the publication of the textbook “PLC Programming in CoDeSYS”, exit 2018
Prepared a full range of educational material on TSL (TATU Smart Lab)

e) contest works with students, received prizes.

2018 – participation in the competition of the German company Phoenix Contact “XPlore-New Automation Award 2018” received equipment for 6000 euros

Promising areas in which research is planned:

– carrying out research works on industrial IoT (IIoT)

– conducting research work on Profinet networks.
