Monument to a student or programmer. 10 years after opening
Exactly 10 years ago, on October 8, 2010, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of NURE, a monument was unveiled to a student who sits on a bench with laptops and a briefcase.
In the press, it was often called the Monument to the Student Programmer. But the question arises that the presence of a laptop does not make a programmer out of a person. The acquired knowledge and skills make a human programmer, so the programmer is the one who is engaged in programming, performs software development.
Today it is difficult to imagine a student, and with the introduction of quarantine measures and a student without a laptop or computer. With the introduction of hybrid or distance learning because of COVID-19, modern tools are used by everyone. For pupils and students, a laptop is as important as textbooks and student ID, but not only for taking notes and doing homework. It should also provide an opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities: communicate on social networks, watch videos, listen to music, edit and post photos, participate in video chats and online lessons. Therefore, these tools are just a learning tool. Therefore, it is more correct to name the monument to the student.
Do modern engineers use a laptop? Of course yes. The laptop is also used as a hardware development tool.
Notebooks are even used on the ISS.
Therefore, we believe that for the sake of completeness, a soldering iron or a soldering station will have to be installed with a laptop, then it will definitely be a student of KNURE. Moreover, the soldering iron can be powered from the USB bus.
For 10 years, the monument to the student has attracted the attention of not only students, but also applicants and schoolchildren who are visited by a physicist.
